The North-East of India is an exotic, enchanted land of ageless forests, majestic rivers and formidable mountain ranges. The region comprises of not one but eight magnificent states - Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

As mist carpets the lush landscape, as summer rain swirls around the hills, as thunderstorms steal across its powerful rivers, one can discover a treasure trove of rare flora and fauna and a distinct heritage of art, textiles, crafts and cuisine, not found anywhere else in the world.

Manjusha Barua
Founder & Director

Born in Assam, Manjusha travelled the length and breadth of the region with her father who served with the Government of Assam in various capacities. The beauty and diversity of the rich, magical land that she saw in her childhood remained imprinted in her memory.

After her post graduation from Bombay University and a diploma in Mass Communications from St. Xavier's, Mumbai, Manjusha worked in Corporate Communications & Branding with two oil majors - IBP Co. Ltd. and Indian Oil - Corporation for over 20 years. This took her to various locations across the country and, in the course of her travels, she became passionate about connecting the wonders of the North-East with the rest of the world.

With over 20 years of experience in the Food Industry in India and USA (16 years at Unilever and the International Food Network in the US) Rinka Banerjee has passion for driving business growth in foods through technology and innovation led her to create Thinking Forks, a consulting firm offering tangible end to end solutions to the Food & Nutrition industry, backed by a team of technical professionals with strong business experience and deep domain expertise.

Rinka has built strong networks with the food innovation eco-system in India. She has been a core member of external bodies such as the governing board of the Protein Food & Nutrition Association of India and the R&D core group of FICCI, a leading industry association in India.

Bhut Jolokia a.k.a. Ghost Pepper

BHUT JOLOKIA also known as the Ghost Chilli/Pepper has grown for many centuries and is believed to have originated in Assam, though today, it is grown in the neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur too

The fresh Bhut Jolokia packs the highest pungency with 1 million Scoville units, whereas in the powdered form it can fall to roughly 750,000 to 900,000 Scoville units.

In the North East, Bhut Jolokia pepper is commonly smeared on fences or incorporated into smoke bombs as a deterrent to keep wild elephants at bay.

From Bhut Jolokia to ENE Sauce

The Inception

Bhut Jolokia is cultivated in small farms in the lush green hills of the North East, using centuries old traditional methods of farming.

The Process

Seeds are extracted from the completely matured fruit by workers wearing gloves for protection against the heat generated by the chilli


It is then transported immediately and processed in a specialized unit to preserve the unique aroma and hotness.

Made From Puree

Only fresh chilli puree (and not powder) is used, in order to ensure the resultant sauce is hotter than the others

Packaging & Processing

The Chilli makes its way to a processing unit where it is converted into table sauces under strict supervision.

Our Products

Made from Asia's hottest chilli, Bhut jolokia. The sauces in this range are made with fresh chilli puree (not powdered chilli) sourced from the North East of India. The flavours and essence of these sauces not only cater to commercial consumption but are also handy in cooking dishes of various cuisines, right from pan asian satays, noodles and salads to western and continental burgers, sandwiches and steaks, both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Just a dash of these sauces can revolutionise your basic, daily meals. Needless to say these sauces accompany all Indian snacks and dishes as well.
